Since we were founded, WSM apprenticeships programme has seen us regularly welcome young people to our workshop to learn from our experts as we nurture the next generation of toolmakers and injection moulding professionals.

In such a specialist industry it’s vital to pass on our vast knowledge and build on our prosperity as part of an ambitious long-term succession plan, and the WSM apprenticeships scheme forms a key element of this.

Our latest apprentice is Harry Lingard, who is combining hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art tool room with a course at Northbrook College in nearby Worthing.

Harry, having harboured an interest in engineering and manufacturing, joined WSM INDUSTRIES in our production department before gaining experience in machine setting.

As part of this role he spent time in toolmaking workshop, and the appeal of the precision engineering he witnessed there convinced him to apply for an apprenticeship.

The value of decades of accumulated experience within the WSM INDUSTRIES toolmaking workshop cannot be underestimated, with our senior engineers able to guide Harry through the intricacies of this “dying art” on a daily basis.

This practical experience provided by WSM INDUSTRIES is complemented by Harry’s college course which covers essential aspects of machining such as milling, turning and grinding.
